Throughout his legal career, Scott has sought to bring mindfulness practices into the daily practice of law, whether as a law student, law clerk, attorney with a law firm, or as general counsel. In 2004 he formed the Institute for Mindfulness Studies and began working with lawyers and law students, teaching mindfulness practices. This work led to creation of Jurisight, the mindfulness-based program specifically tailored for law student's and lawyer's busy and challenging lives. He developed the nation's first contemplative practices program for law students which is conducted at the University of Miami School of Law.
Since 2003 Scott has taught mindfulness to hundreds of legal professionals, including law students, practicing attorneys, mediators, and judicial law clerks. For many years he led a mindfulness-based group on Miami Beach. In 2006, Scott published “Mindful Parenting: Meditations, Verses & Visualizations for a More Joyful Life,” and in 2009 he published "Mindfulness for Law Students: Using the Power of Mindful Awareness to Achieve Balance and Success in Law School," and "The Six-Minute Solution: A Mindfulness Primer for Lawyers."
