Bio for Linda Warren Seely
Attended University of Memphis undergraduate and law school, graduated law school in 1981. Worked as intern for Tennessee State Legislative assembly, 1978. Began as law clerk with Memphis Area Legal Services, 1980, and then as staff attorney from 1981-1982. Private law practice in Memphis from 1982-1989 and returned as Managing Attorney for Senior Citizens Project at Memphis Area Legal Services in 1989. Promoted to manager of Pro Bono Projects in 1991. Moved to Jackson, Tennessee in 1996 and worked as Pro Bono Projects Manager for West Tennessee Legal Services from 1996-2004. Served as member of the Madison County Bar Association Board of Directors from 1997-2001, President of the Association of Women Attorneys-Anne Schneider Chapter from 2001-2004 and Seventh District Representative on the Tennessee Bar Association Board of Bar Governors 2002 to the present. Recipient of the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services Cooperative Advocacy Award in 1999, the Tennessee Bar Association Public Service Attorney of the Year Award in 2001 and Paralegal Utilization Award from the West Tennessee Chapter of the Tennessee Paralegal Association in 2004. Awarded the Tennessee Bar Association President’s Award at the TBA Annual Conference in June of 2006 for work on Stand Up and Deliver initiative and recognized by the Memphis Woman Magazine as one of 50 Women Who Make a Difference in August of 2006. Currently serves as recent Past President of the Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women (2005-2006) and is a consultant with the American Bar Association Center for Pro Bono and presents at the A.B.A. Equal Justice Conference annual “Nuts and Bolts of Running a Pro Bono Project”.
