$500,000 of Government Funding Supports Law School Truancy Court

An article from the Daily Record, Maryland’s legal newspaper, reported about $500,000 in federal funding to the University of Baltimore School of Law Center for Families, Children and the Courts (CFCC) has received from the FY2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act. This new funding enables CFCC to expand our Truancy Court Program (TCP), in operation since 2005 in the Baltimore City Public Schools, to additional schools in Baltimore City and to the four other largest Maryland counties.
Healing circle to be tested for school disputes

In a report to the Greater Essex County District School Board, Clara Howitt, Superintendent of Education, introduced "restorative justice" to trustees.
This method of conflict resolution stresses bringing the perpetrator, the victim, witnesses and the authorities face-to-face to resolve differences.

Restorative action and peer mediation in schools was the focus of a visit to the Abbotsford school district last week by students and educational professionals from the Ukraine.
The eight visitors from the seaport of Odessa were hosted by the Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy Association, and provided an opportunity for students and school personnel in three Abbotsford schools to exchange information about restorative action and peer mediation.
