[PISLAP] is a nationwide network of lawyers, law professors, law students, and others interested in the progressive transformation of law. Our aim is twofold. We seek to develop and articulate a new vision of law’s relationship to social transformation. This involves an emphasis on the need to overcome the alienation that separates self and other and seeks to connect the inner and the outer aspects of our social existence. We also seek to bring together leaders and activists in such spiritual/political/humanistic legal movements as Restorative Justice, Understanding-based Mediation, Collaborative Law, and Humanizing Legal Education under a common theoretical and practical vision that can unify their respective efforts.

Our mission can be summarized in a single sentence: We seek to transform legal culture, within the United States and internationally, so that law can become a vehicle for creating a loving and caring world.
