What if lawyers were peacemakers, problem-solvers and healers of conflicts? What would the world be like if lawyers were compassionate listeners who used their intellect and passions to make the world a better place?
Clearinghouse of information and resources We are a multimedia web-based documentary of a movement that is about that movement which is a transformation of the law. Our videos tell the stories of the pioneers and leaders of the movement. As they tell their individual stories, we learn more about the evolution of the law. Each person shares his or her own role in developing the integrative law movement and the pieces fit together like a puzzle.
This movement is an evolution described in many ways: it is law as a relational profession; law as a therapeutic agent; law as a spiritual path.
Our publisher and editor, Kim Wright, wrote a book of over 500 pages: Lawyers as Peacemakers: Practicing Holistic, Problem-Solving Law (published by the ABA in April, 2010). This site expands on the ideas in that book and is an organic extension of the book.
We share about a conscious, holistic, humanistic approach to law practice in which we seek to create lives of balance and well-being for ourselves and those who work with us, while also working for the overall good of our clients and society. Our articles are written primarily by lawyers for lawyers about the topics which are relevant to the practice of law, legal education or effective judging.
Community of Leaders CuttingEdgeLaw.com is a community of leaders in the evolution of law. Our members are creating and refining the models that will be mainstream tomorrow (or are now). They are are here to support each other and others. We are lawyers, transforming our lives, our practices, the legal system, and the world.
Advocates for Prudent Change Change is coming to the legal profession and it is important that we are wise and thoughtful about how that change is implemented. As students of personal and system transformation, we bring a rich background and perspective to our advocacy.
Consultants We bring our expertise to the legal system in many ways. By virtue of her bird's eye view of the changes going on in many communities, Kim is the person to inquire into what works and what doesn't. Where more expertise is needed, she knows the leaders and experts in most fields of this movement and can connect you to those who are creating and teaching best practices.
Providers of Continuing Legal Education and Coaching Kim and her colleagues offer on-line and in-person continuing legal education programs.
