About Cutting Edge Law
There are a lot of ways of talking about the purpose of CuttingEdgeLaw.com. We often express it as an inquiry:
What if lawyers were peacemakers, problem-solvers and healers of conflicts?
Our content supports the inquiry. We are a multimedia web-based documentary of a movement that is about that movement which is a transformation of the law.
Our videos tell the stories of the pioneers and leaders of the movement. As they tell their individual stories, we learn more about the evolution of the law. Each person shares his or her own role in developing the movement and the pieces fit together like a puzzle.
This movement is a paradigm shift described in many ways: it is law as a relational profession; law as a therapeutic agent; law as a spiritual path.
Our publisher and editor, Kim Wright, wrote a book of over 500 pages: Lawyers as Peacemakers: Practicing Holistic, Problem-Solving Law (published by the ABA in April, 2010). This site expands on the ideas in that book and is an organic extension of the information in the book.
It is about a conscious, holistic, humanistic approach to law practice in which we seek to create lives of balance and well-being for ourselves and those who work with us, while also working for the overall good of our clients and society.
CuttingEdgeLaw.com is an on-line magazine. Our articles are written primarily by lawyers for lawyers about the topics which are relevant to the practice of law, legal education or effective judging.
CuttingEdgeLaw.com is a community. Our members know they are not alone, that others are here to support them and they are here to support others.
We are lawyers, transforming our lives, our practices, the legal system, and the world.
