IAHL Conference Discounts Announced
From IAHL:
First off....We're very excited to have such notables as author Julie Murphy Casserly, prominent family attorney John McShane, Collaborative Law creator Stu Webb, marketing expert Liz Ferris...and of course Steve Keeva will be there as we honor him on Saturday night on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Transforming Practices.
Appreciating Steve Keeva, Transforming Practices
I suspect there are a lot of us out there who were either initiated or supported by Steven Keeva's groundbreaking, "Transforming Practices," an ABA Journal Publication. This is the 10th anniversary of the book, which has gone out of print.
The International Alliance of Holistic Lawyers is honoring Steve at its upcoming conference, June 11-14 in Chicago. We would encourage everyone who was influenced by Keeva's work to come to Chicago to be part of this recognition and appreciation event.
RFP IAHL "Voices" and Honoring Steve Keeva
A Call for “Voices” for the Conference of the International Alliance of Holistic Lawyers
“Voices of the New Lawyer.
Finding and expressing your true voice in your practice.”
Chicago June 11-14, 2009
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE EXTREME EARLYBIRD SPECIAL IS SCHEDULED TO EXPIRE MARCH 7TH !!!
From the RFP:
We are extremely excited to bring high-level transformative legal professionals together for this year’s conference, the 17th annual. Successful holistic practitioners will explore how each has contributed to the transformation of the profession in the last ten years since the publication of Steven Keeva’s Transforming Practices (1999). We will all gather on Saturday night to honor Steve, bestowing the First Annual “Transforming Practices” Award to recognize his groundbreaking work to humanize the practice of law. There will be presentations intended to show how practicing holistically can be done with success AND satisfaction. We will also offer multiple workshops designed to allow for exploration and development of our own 'voice' in these new models of law practice.
It's more than skill sets....it's mind sets
It's been a huge joy to watch this site unfold. I'm very excited about its prospects. Can it really be only 10 years since I met J. Kim Wright??? Seems like 'always'.
Anyway, I'm here to blog about my professional "life" which is Collaborative Practice. I'll start with some of my recent thoughts about the connection with Holistic Law.
Much as I love Collaborative Practice, I am of the belief that it is not the "practice" that is the source of "salvation" for the practitioner. It is not the 4 or 6 way meetings, not the 1 or 2 coaches, not the full team or the lawyer only.....not any of the nuts and bolts.
Instead it is the Paradigm Shift. The change in the way in which the practitioner views him/herself, the client, colleagues, the nature of conflict, and what constitutes "success".
Steve Potts: Using Energy for Creative Purposes
Part 1: Steve went to law school to be Perry Mason and did it for a while. He became aware of the game-playing in law, focusing on technicalities rather than resolution then discovered mediation. While he enjoyed mediation, it was still about dealing with "spilled milk" so he began focusing on transactional law and creating futures. Steve talks about how his career path has intertwined with his spiritual path, working with clients to get them moving forward.
In Part 2, Steve continues to discuss how his holistic approach helps business clients accomplish more than they expected. His win/win approach to negotiation offers opportunity for creating relationships.
IAHL 2009 Conference: “Every great idea must be 'spoken' into being”
The International Alliance of Holistic Lawyers announced today that conference registration is now open for their 2009 conference, Voices of the New Lawyer: Finding and expressing your true voice in your practice. They are also seeking sponsors, with the highest level of sponsorship being for a dinner honoring Steve Keeva and the 10th anniversary of his book, Transforming Practices.
They also announced an EXTREME Early Bird special. If you register by March 7th and book 3 hotel nights, the conference fee is ONLY $100.00, a significant savings over the regular conference rates.
